The Veterans Place shelter program for homeless veterans has seen many hard winters and scalding summers. As the weather changes seasons come and go and the building takes abuse. Throughout this past year the organization employed the lowest bidder to have some of the bathrooms adapted, remodeled, ceilings painted, plumbing repaired and updated. But with economic stress hovering, the external doors, siding and roofing repairs didn’t seem possible. Until we received a generous offer from Make it Count Foundation. Jon Reese came and assessed the needs of the Veterans Place and went immediately to work. They replaced and painted all 18 exterior steel doors, replaced the exterior and interior trim, and painted external areas in need as well. They fixed gutters and patched a leak in the roof and overall gave The Veterans Place a complete ‘face-life’! The Make It Count Foundation provides resources for Optimal Housing, Health, and Education. Through their “Operation Renovation” Program, they are providing home renovations for Veterans and Active Duty Military men and women and their families.
